2. Leadership Team Update
Chris asked if any questions w/ leadership succession plan. Rick was concerned with the way that the plan was developed wihtout feedback from the faculty.
Chris updated about work done in leadership.

Debbie shared some concerns about her contract expiring in January. (she has already reached her hourly quota)
We took a look at the CaO demonstration of an exothermic reaction.

Mike, Rick and Catie are meeting w/ the freshmen team and Ted.
Chris, Julie and Pam will look at some recent biology assessments (new) and answer some guided questions about student work.

Deb and Julie will work on biology while Rick/Mike work on Freshmen Science and Pam/Mike on Chemistry.

2. Meet w/ members of YEF to discuss possible project ideas.
We met with Seth Sladek who explained what his role in the YEF was which is to learn about potential grants and then seek out companies who might be willing to donate money to support such grants. Seth encouraged us to go ahead with a proposal for new biotechnology equipment which Deb, Julie and Catie are planning on writing a grant for.
We also discussed that future course offerings that may open up when we lose the extra 1/2 credit for chemistry junior year may need funding (astronomy, botany, marine studies, anatomy/physiology etc)

We spent time after Seth left discussing items that may be grant worthy in the future. We also would like to look into renovations in the rooms to make them more science “friendly.”
